Blanco State Park Restoration:
A Message from Jennifer Oines, Treasurer of Friends of Blanco State Park
We are getting the word out through every channel we can think of for those
who want to help restore Blanco State Park, which sustained heavy damage in
the epic Memorial Weekend flood. Marcy Westcott and I have been designated
as the coordinators of volunteers who would like to come help us when the
time is right. We have a special e-mail address set up for this effort:
Anyone who would like to be part of our community effort/volunteer army to
rebuild our beautiful park, please send us your name, phone numbers, and any
particular things you are willing and able to do, such as work a chainsaw,
do construction, have a truck/trailer to haul things, and so on. We are
compiling a list of all who want to help and will contact everyone when we
are able to get into the park.
In addition, we are accepting donations which will be specifically earmarked
for the restoration effort. If you would like to donate money, you can do so
by sending a check to:
Friends of Blanco State Park
P.O. Box 493
Blanco, Texas 78606
Please note "Restoration Effort" on the memo line.
What is currently happening:
Our amazing Park Superintendent, Ethan Belicek, is working with Texas Parks
& Wildlife emergency personnel to document the damages to the park, and they
are EXTENSIVE. Detailed documentation must take place before anything else
can be done. This part is critical. Next, the largest and most dangerous
debris will be removed by Park staff and trained emergency personnel.
Once these phases have taken place, Ethan will let us know how and when our
volunteer efforts can begin.
Thank you for your consideration!
